COLCHESTER United were beaten 2-1 at home by Salford City, on Saturday afternoon.

The U's have not won in their last six matches in League Two and lie 21st in the table, after their defeat to the Ammies at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Here are the views of Colchester fans, following their second straight home loss.

The only reason there was any hope in that game was thanks to Lyle Taylor. He is consistently the best of a bad bunch at the minute. A huge squad overall in the summer, so time still needed of course. But there should be desire and passion on display, and we aren’t seeing it

Jonathan Perry

Once again, the manager and players let themselves down today. The clocks changing this weekend clearly disorientated them and they thought they could have an extra hour asleep. Game didn’t start until the 61st minute for the wrong reasons, and the players were still half asleep.

Turgid. Playing Payne deep really wasn't a good idea. We keep playing catch up with poor starting selections, & that is on DC. We've got a lot of injuries, let's go back to basics, play players in correct positions & stop focusing on how to stop teams and how we can hurt them.

For 15 minutes we were great. The rest of the time we were on the back foot - again…

The club would obviously be a lot worse off overall. But the fanbase would be having a lot more fun being 5th-12th in the conference playing a few more local sides rather than Accrington, Salford, Morecambe year in year out and being 16th-22nd in L2. Put us out of our misery!

I really want the Cowleys to succeed as they do so much also for the community. I don’t understand the substitutions though. Why take off a winger (Oscar) who had great pace and push us forward. Taylor is another level

Sean

Awful. I honestly have no idea what the manager is watching in training with the way he sets the teams up. Look like 11 players chucked together.

Steve Duckling

Where has all the positive attack threat we posed at the start of the season? We look scared to take players on. We just can’t keep the ball for long periods and when the opposition don’t offer a great deal we don’t take full advantage. Were we really the home side?

Si Collinson

Just when we think it can’t get much worse we play like we did in the second half. All over the place, couldn’t even keep the ball from a throw in. No structure or formation after Salford scored their second. Needs a lot of work or else we will be witnessing this more and more.

Duncan Stonehouse

All the early season optimism and togetherness after the (much needed) rebuilding over the summer has evaporated, leaving us with a new squad who appear to be playing without a plan A let alone plan B. This wasn’t the season I anticipated at all, flat, slow and predictable.

Doug

Maybe instead of setting up to try not to lose a game - Hunt at RB, Payne deep, Hopper starting for his work rate rather than any threat - we could try setting up to try to win. Never know, it might work.

Stuart Garrard

The wafts of manure said enough.

Like the Cowleys a lot but looks like very naïve recruitment on reflection. Also original players such as Iandolo and Read seem to be nothing like they were last year so what on earth is going on? We just look 2nd best every week and look on the back foot from the kick off.

Jordan Gerhartz

Waste of money not good enough

Tracey Welsh

2nd abject home game running, Clueless, lacking cohesion, no plan A even. An awful watch. Cowleys came in on a wave of optimism, talking the good talk but have failed to turn around our form. Their team is performing poorly. Heavily backed but recruitment poor. Long wait for Jan.

David Clayton

I’ll always back the Cowleys, they need at least 2 seasons to turn the club around, but overlooking players better suited to the system is harming the team. We lack creativity, so why play Payne deep when Read is fit? The obsession with getting Hopper on the pitch is just odd.

The PR machine that is the Cowleys got people on board, but they’ve been found out now the games have started.
