COLCHESTER United thrashed Swindon Town 4-0 in League Two, on Tuesday night.

First-half goals from Samson Tovide (2), Jack Payne and a Harry Smith own goal gave the U's a convincing victory over the struggling Robins, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The fine win lifted Colchester up to 17th in the table, ahead of their game at Notts County on Saturday.

Here are the views of U's fans, following a big win for Danny Cowley's team.

Tom

Pressing from the front right up to the 95th minute! We played SO well, Payne was playing in his most threatening position and it made the difference. We played as a team and shared the goals. A terrific performance all round, let’s get a run going and keep climbing the table!

Wow, just wow. The best 45 minutes in a long time. Sat back a little in the second half, but always looked comfortable. This type of result/performance makes all the travelling and pain worth it. Jamie McDonnell class again. Long may it continue.

Steve Duckling

That result has been coming & we blew Swindon away first half pressing them and giving them no time on the ball. The 2nd half was a totally different half but we dug in deep with a gutsy defensive performance and 7pts in 3 games is great and hope we can keep the momentum going.

Andy Kettle

A solid performance from every player. Swindon always looked like conceding with every press. The puzzle is shaping up nicely and as Danny said, he is finally understanding his players and their strengths, and has a clear outlook on his starting 11. Great performance. Up the U’s

Excellent result and well deserved! Performances have been very good recently and it's good to get the rewards! Onwards and upwards now!

Ben Harrison

Electric 1st half, Swindon were poor but we've struggled to put those types of sides away before but tonight clinical and the gane was done by half time, couple more goals 2nd half would've been nice but you can't have it all, let's keep this run going

RichSwin

Tovide was a beast. Held off the Swindon player to set Edwards away, then sprinted up the pitch to slot the third away. He's really changing his game to suit his many attributes. Great to see his development, hopefully all season and beyond.

Swindon were very bad but a few weeks ago we don't finish our chances and concede a sloppy goal in that game so really pleased we are starting to finish our chances and tighten up at the back

Georgina Davies

Wow what a game, could of had more but what a turn around. The first half was much better than the second half and was good to see Taylor and Bishop back. Onto Saturday

Good

Danny

Excellent performance and half a dozen players really shone tonight. Unfortunately a few still look out of their league and we need to address that in January but so pleased their efforts paid off at last. I thought the referee was very good too for once.

Allen Smith

Blistering first half in both performance and the cold weather But you know what my Dad and I warmed up quickly when the goals flew in Breath of fresh air To see what the first eleven can do Need to continue v notts county who are only 7 points ahead

Swindon giving away 2 cheap goals which is a novelty for us. The other goals were well worked and Tovide looked great, none of the diving antics like we have seen before. It was also a bonus to keep the clean sheet, tough to beat. Lyle Taylor seemed a bit lazy after coming on.

Delighted with the result but I can't help feeling that Swindon is the worst side to visit the JCS this season. You can only beat what's in front of you, but I'm not going to get carried away beating a side as bad as that. Have a feeling Mr Tovide will be a wanted man in Jan!

Ian McPherson

Not taking anything away from Samson and Owura but McDonnel and Donnelly have been immerse the last couple of games.

David Clayton

Superb team performance. Tovide unplayable in the first half. McDonnell was everywhere. Huge test on Saturday but we can be confident going up against Notts County.

Ollie

So much to take from that, McDonnell and Donnelly need to be signed permanently, tovide must stay, good to see bishop, Taylor etc all back, another clean sheet. Finally playing like a team with confidence, keep pushing on
