Colchester manager Paul Lambert hailed his side’s ‘extraordinary’ performance after guiding them to victory over Leeds United.
The U’s left Elland Road with all three points after coming from behind to win 2-1.
It made it three wins out of the last four for Colchester and Lambert, who felt his side’s performance over the former first division champions ranked alongside his finest in management.
He said: “I’ve been involved in many games as a manager and that is certainly up there with the best of them.
“I thought we were extraordinary.
“To go a goal down at a stadium like Elland Road and come back is a big, big task.
“The crowd play a massive part at this football club – it’s like a magnet and they will the ball in but defending-wise, we never wilted which was good.
“When you get a goal against you especially with that crowd behind them, it takes big players to see it through.
“Leeds are a terrific side with terrific support but we weathered the storm and their goal was against the run of play.”
Captain Dean Hammond cancelled out Robert Snodgrass’ opener, before Mark Yeates netted Colchester’s winner with a superb free-kick, midway through the second half.
“The winning goal was Ronaldinho-like,” said Lambert.
“You could go anywhere in Europe this week but you would do well to see a free-kick as good as that one.”
