Ipswich Town kicked-off the new Coca-Cola Championship season with a 2-1 defeat at Coventry City.
Clinton Morrison scored both goals for the Sky Blues, with Jon Walters lashing home the consolation after an excellent pass from Jon Stead.
It was 2-1 at half-time and, although Roy Keane's men pressed after the break, they were unable to grab an equaliser on a disappointing afternoon at the Ricoh Arena.
Jaime Peters and Pim Balkestein had a couple of half-chances each, while Walters saw a looping header tipped over by City goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.
Town now head to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday for a first-round encounter in the Carling Cup.
