Colchester United’s players are relishing being Coca-Cola League One’s early pacesetters, according to David Fox.
And the U’s midfielder and his team-mates are determined to remain top dogs.
Colchester are sitting pretty at the top of the division on goal difference, following back-to-back wins in their opening two games of the new season. They head into tomorrow night’s home clash with Gillingham looking to preserve their status at the summit.
Fox said the U’s are thriving on their lofty league position.
He told the Gazette: “Our focus is on the league and we’re definitely up for this.
“Being top of the league helped us – it gives you something to hang on to.
“It’s something we’re very proud of and it’s where we want to stay.
“The manager has asked us how long can we stay at the top of the league for.
“It’s up to us to keep going and make sure that we can stay there for as long as we can.”
