Roy Keane has urged fans to be patient as his quest to sign new players continues.
The Blues have made a disappointing start to the new Coca-Cola Championship season, losing at Coventry and drawing 0-0 at home to Leicester on Saturday.
Keane has previously stated that he wants to bolster his squad with a promotion tilt in mind – but says supporters may have to wait ‘a couple of weeks’ before there is concrete news.
“We’re no closer to bringing anyone in than we were at the weekend,” he said.
“And I don’t expect anything to happen in the next 24 or 48 hours.
“We’re short at the moment in terms of promotion and you can’t get away from that fact.
“But we may have to wait a couple more weeks and be patient.
“We will miss David Norris (who damaged knee ligaments at Coventry) “The instinct is to replace him yesterday but it takes time, although we have our targets in mind.
“David’s injury has added to our midfield scrutiny but we are looking at all sections of the squad.”
Despite the millions of Blues owner Marcus Evans, Keane has little money to spend and has been told he will have to sell members of his squad before he can bring others in.
“I’m not in a position to spend millions here,” said the Irishman, whose side have a home date with Crystal Palace tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).
“As small a squad as I’ve got, I need to ship one or two out before I can bring one or two in.”
Town could be back in the market for Sunderland’s Daryl Murphy.
Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that talks have resumed and is happy to sell the striker-cum-midfielder.
Alan Quinn is expected to return to the team tonight in place of Jaime Peters, who suffered an ankle injury against Leicester.
The Irishman has not been on the bench for a league game this season, although he stood out during last week’s Carling Cup success at League Two Shrewsbury.
