The wolves are at the doors of the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Not necessarily ones of the Wanderers variety, but Colchester United caretaker boss Joe Dunne believes rival clubs could be circling and ready to lure the U’s prize assets away.
Dunne is ready to lead the team out for their sell-out home encounter with Leeds United in Coca-Cola League One tomorrow, but feels there will be clubs keeping tabs on the U’s as they continue their search for a new manager.
“I’m sure there will be sides looking at what team I pick and put out there tomorrow,” said Dunne.
“It happens if you have a period of change, as we have at the moment, when there is no manager and nothing happening for a while.
“The wolves are at the door and we have to make sure we keep it firmly closed until the transfer deadline comes.
“I would guess that there are people looking at our squad list and making calls and having a look tomorrow to test the water, but we have to be strong.”
