Managerless Colchester United were beaten 2-1 by league leaders Leeds United in front of a bumper Weston Homes Community Stadium crowd this afternoon.
A crowd of 8,810 saw the U's narrowly beaten by Simon Grayson's side, who maintained their 100 per cent start to the season in Coca-Cola League One.
Both sides had their chances, in an even first half.
Leeds goalkeeper Shane Higgs denied David Fox early on, while Jermaine Beckford had two efforts chalked off for off-side and was also denied by Colchester keeper, Ben Williams.
Robert Snodgrass went close before the break before Leeds took the lead in the second minute of the second half through Bradley Johnson, who headed in Snodgrass' free-kick from close range.
Colchester responded well and were level again ten minutes later when Kevin Lisbie converted from the penalty spot, after he had been tugged back by Rui Marques in the area.
However, Beckford restored Leeds' lead soon after when he slotted home from close range, after Colchester had failed to clear a ball into the area.
