Speculation is mounting that Aidy Boothroyd will be named as Colchester United’s new manager.
The U’s have completed their interviewing process and are all set to reveal the identity of Paul Lambert’s successor.
Five interviews took place on Friday.
And one candidate is believed to be a clear distance apart from his rivals.
Colchester are hoping to have their new man in place before tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy trip to Gillingham.
However, caretaker boss Joe Dunne will lead the team, at the Priestfield Stadium.
Boothroyd is now favourite to get the nod.
The former Watford boss, 38, has been out of work since leaving the Hornets last November.
