Chief executive Simon Clegg insists the “tide is about to turn” for Ipswich Town.

The Blues are welded to the bottom of the Coca-Cola Championship table and have not won in their opening 11 games.

Town boss Roy Keane is under mounting pressure as a result of his side’s troubled start to the campaign.

However, Clegg, speaking at the AGM of the West Anglia Branch of the Ipswich Town Supporters Club, said: “We are going to get that first win - it’s just around the corner.

“The tide is about to turn and I’m confident we’ll be standing here in a few weeks’ time having a very different discussion.

“It’s not where we want to be.

“We all recognise that and we’re not trying to shy away from it, but I remain equally confident that Roy will be able to turn things around with the players he has got.”

Clegg, who gave the manager a public vote of confidence last week, insists his side are not in a relegation fight, despite their ominous position at the foot of the table.

“I don’t believe it’s a relegation fight at all,” he said.

“Our aspirations are to take this club back into the Premier League at the earliest opportunity.

“Roy is committed to this club and has a two-year contract.

“We’ve got absolute confidence and belief in him that he’s the right man to turn this situation around for us.”

Meanwhile, Keane has been named the second richest boss in English Football, in FourFourTwo’s annual Football Rich List.

The former Manchester United legend is said to have a fortune estimated at £27 million, which is topped only by England manager Fabio Capello with £30m.

Town owner and chairman Marcus Evans is 19th in the overall Football Rich List, with his wealth estimated at £400m.
