The Blues made a dream start to this afternoon's Championship encounter when Gareth McAuley steered home his fifth goal of the season.
Carlos Edwards made it two nine minutes from time after a great run and cross by Connor Wickham.
Rob Hulse pulled one back but Wickham netted a third in stoppage time when he coolly slotted home after turning defender Jay McEveley.
In a feisty last few minutes, Rams boss Nigel Clough and midfielder Stephen Pearson were sent off for foul and abusive language aimed at referee Jon Moss.
