Colchester United Ladies director of football Kevin Anderson insists they will not take opponents Braintree Town lightly in tonight’s Essex Women’s Cup Final.
The U’s, who play in the FA Tesco Women’s Premier League southern division, will go into the game as big favourites against their Eastern Region League opponents.
It is the third successive year that Colchester have made the final of the competition, which they won in 2008.
Nevertheless, Anderson is expecting Iron to provide a tough test.
He told the Gazette: “We will be favourites, in terms of where the teams are placed in the pyramid.
“But Braintree have had a lot of success over the last few years, both in league and cup competitions.
“They’re an ambitious club with good players involved and we’re expecting a very tough game.”
