Brian Murphy admitted having a deflated end to his dramatic week, following Ipswich Town’s 1-1 draw against Doncaster.
The Blues took the lead through Connor Wickham but were pegged back during Saturday’s turgid Championship affair at Portman Road.
For goalkeeper Murphy, it followed an eventful couple of days after being stranded back home in Ireland due to the volcano in Iceland.
He could not fly so had to travel by ferry and car, forcing him to miss training on Thursday.
Murphy said: “I went home for personal reasons and didn’t expect my journey back to be affected by a volcano.
“You couldn’t make it up but it was just one of those things.
“I was expecting a kick up the backside from the manager and was probably a bit fortunate to play on Saturday.
“I was a bit lucky to get back in the first place, too.
“There was only one boat available and then I had to get my girlfriend to drive me back.”
