Ian Henderson insists Colchester United’s players are still upbeat, despite seeing their play-off dreams fade.
The U’s lie six points off a top-six finish with three games to go, following their 3-1 defeat at Hartlepool United.
Aidy Boothroyd’s side now have to beat Tranmere Rovers this weekend to keep their promotion hopes alive for another season.
And midfielder Henderson said he and his team-mates remain determined, despite their poor run of recent form.
Henderson told the Gazette: “We go into training with the same mood, because we’re still in with a chance.
“We have to keep on smiling – if we’re defeated, anyone will see that."
