Marc Tierney has reassured Colchester United fans that he is not looking to quit the club.
However, the popular U’s defender has confirmed that he is yet to reach an agreement over his new contract.
Speculation has recently linked highly-rated Tierney with a move away from the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
But Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd is keen to keep the left-back, who has a year remaining on his current deal.
Tierney confirmed to the Gazette that he failed to reach an agreement with the U’s over their initial contract offer, earlier this year.
But the 24-year-old is still in negotiations and wants to stay at Colchester.
Tierney told the Gazette: “I had a quick chat about things with the manager this week and he’d like to reopen talks but they’ve never really ceased.
“The manager has said he will come back with something that will appeal to me and I hope to get things sorted by the end of the season.
“What we all want is something that will be good for me and good for the club.
“We haven’t come up with an agreement yet and I didn’t agree on the initial offer but there hasn’t been a fall-out.”
