John Ward loves the FA Cup.
And the Colchester United manager would dearly love the opportunity to pit his wits against Sir Alex Ferguson in the third round.
Ward, who was on the coaching staff at Watford when they reached the FA Cup Final against Everton in 1984, is one of the competition’s biggest fans.
He sends his U’s side out to battle against non-league minnows Swindon Supermarine tomorrow, looking to make further progress in this season’s tournament.
And the Colchester boss would like nothing better than beating Marine and booking a memorable trip to play Manchester United in the next round.
Ward said: “The big incentive is the same for us as it is for Swindon Supermarine and that’s for a big tie in the third round.
“I’m dreaming of Manchester United away - why shouldn’t I?"
