Anthony Wordsworth is hoping to tie up a new contract with Colchester United before Christmas.
And the skilful midfielder said he could not be happier at the U’s.
Wordsworth - who is out of contract at the end of the season - is currently in talks over a fresh deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The 21-year-old has just moved to north Essex from London.
And the former U’s trainee is now keen to commit his future to the club in the next few weeks.
Wordsworth told the Gazette: “We’re talking about it at the moment.
“I hope it will be sorted out in the next couple of weeks."
