A big decision.

Colchester United boss John Ward has admitted he faces a tough choice on who to start in goal against struggling Swindon Town tomorrow.

Ben Williams, last season’s player of the year, is available again after recovering from a back problem.

But Mark Cousins impressed in the U’s recent games at Hartlepool United and Charlton Athletic.

Now Colchester manager Ward must decide who starts between the sticks, against the Robins.

Ward said: “It gives me a big decision but I don’t mind that.

“I’ll make it and get on with it - I hope they do as well, because only one of them can play.

“It’s a difficult one, because they’re competing with each other.

“It’s unlike outfield positions - if you’re in you’re in, if you’re not, you’re not.

“It will make some kind of statement when I make the decision.

“That said, I’m really pleased with Mark Cousins.

“He came off the bench and performed at Charlton extremely well.

“I felt for him a little bit at Hartlepool when the goals went past him, which were strong finishes.

“Mark has been what I’ve asked people to be - ready for his opportunity.

“He’s taken his opportunity very well and that’s why it’s a tough decision for me to make.”
