Colchester United manager John Ward said his team's attitude helped them finally overcome a spirited Swindon Town side this afternoon.

Steven Gillespie's stoppage-time strike helped the U's claim a 2-1 win over the Robins, after Scott Cuthbert had cancelled out David Mooney's early strike for the U's.

Ward said: “We haven't played particularly well but we've won the game.

“We played pretty well at the likes of Huddersfield and Charlton and didn't win those games so if something has gone our way, we'll take it.

“We know we can play better than that but you can't accuse us of not trying and we've tried very hard.

“Because we've done that and our attitude has been good, it's given us a chance to win the game."
