Colchester's dreadful record at Home Park continued this afternoon when they were beaten 2-1 by ten-man Plymouth Argyle.

The U's have now not won any of their 17 league games at the venue, after Yala Bolasie's second-half penalty gave the struggling Pilgrims three vital points in League One.

Colchester got off to the worst possible start when they fell behind in the eighth minute.

Former Ipswich Town loanee Rory Fallon turned in the area and fired a low shot past goalkeeper Ben Williams from close range, after Bondz N'Gala had beaten David Perkins to a header.

Williams palmed away Carl Fletcher's long-range effort soon after and although Curtis Nelson cleared from his own goal-line, the Pilgrims were in control in the opening 40 minutes.

However, the U's were given a helping hand back into the game, four minutes before the break when Plymouth defender Stephane Zubar headed into his own net from Nathan Clarke's long throw, after jumping with Kayode Odejayi eight yards out.

Colchester almost scored a second before the break when Ian Henderson missed a gilt-edged chance from close range, after Matt Heath had flicked on Lloyd James' free-kick.

Kari Arnason's blockbuster strike rattled the crossbar for Plymouth, early in the second half.

But goalkeeper Romain Larrieu pushed away David Mooney's effort soon after and 12 minutes after the break, Plymouth were reduced to ten men when Chris Clark was sent off for a high tackle on Henderson.

But Colchester failed to take advantage and they fell behind again with 16 minutes to go when Bolasie scored from the spot, after Clarke had harshly been adjudged to have fouled Joe Mason in the area.

Colchester substitutes Andrew Bond, Anthony Wordsworth and Steven Gillespie all went close before the end but Colchester were unable to force an equaliser.
