U’s skipper Kem Izzet has admitted that his testimonial match may not go ahead this summer.
The long-serving midfielder is currently celebrating a decade of loyal service with Colchester United.
Izzet, who first joined the U’s back in March 2001, has been hoping to lure a big club to north Essex for his special game.
However, as yet no opposition team has been ready to commit to the fixture.
The game could now take place sometime during next season, possibly during an international break.
Izzet said: “The game seems to have fallen by the wayside, to be honest.
“We can’t get anyone to commit and July is definitely a no-go.
“There may be a chance for August 1 but trying to get someone to commit is near-on impossible at the moment.”
