A glittering array of Colchester United stars past and present will feature in Kem Izzet's testimonial game next month.

The likes of Richard Garcia, Greg Halford and Jamie Cureton will all return to the U's for the event, on May 12.

They will play for Phil Parkinson's Celebrity XI against a Colchester team for the present day.

And earlier in the day, the "Boys of 92" team will take on the "Men of 98", in another nostalgic treat for Colchester supporters.

In addition to a large amount of former U's players attending, Spurs and England star Jermain Defoe is hoping to play some part.

“I’ve been told Jermain Defoe will play for 15 minutes," said Izzet.

“But that could be difficult as he’s got a game for Spurs the next day (against Fulham).

“But he said he’d come along and we played together as youngsters at both Senrab and Charlton Athletic."

Former Aston Villa and Leicester City midfielder Muzzy Izzet, Kem's brother, are also expected to feature, on what will be a memorable day for the long-serving U's midfielder.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for juniors and over-65s, while admission for under-eights is £2.

Izzet has played more than 400 league games for Colchester and has spent more than a decade at the club.
