Colchester United dented Sheffield Wednesday's hopes of automatic promotion with an impressive 1-1 draw this afternoon, in front of their biggest home crowd of the season.
Colchester took a third-minute lead when Ian Henderson poked home from close range, after Steven Gillespie had capitalised on Michail Antonio's mistake in the area.
Gary Madine and Chris Lines went close for the Owls after that and Nile Ranger missed a gilt-edged chance for the visitors when he sliced well wide in front of goal, following Antonio's driven pass.
Wednesday equalised seven minutes after half-time through Miguel Angel Llera, who bundled in from close range from Lines' free-kick into the area.
Both sides went in search of a winner after that and Jermaine Johnson curled a shot just wide for the visitors.
But Colchester were worth their point, in front of a bumper crowd of 6,643.
