John Ward said Colchester United fully deserved their late equaliser after seeing his side draw 1-1 with Bournemouth this afternoon.
Tom Eastman's goal with seven minutes to go secured the U's a share of the spoils at Dean Court, after Shaun MacDonald's early controversial goal.
Colchester boss Ward said: "We played very well and played some extremely good football against a good footballing side.
"I was pleased with the attitude and some of the football we played was very good.
“We fully deserved our equaliser and we came back from a disputed goal very well.
“We showed good character, because we could have wobbled after that.
“We stood firm when we feel that a goal was given against us that shouldn’t have been."
