Anthony Wordsworth believes he has had his best season yet for Colchester United.
The midfielder has been one of the U’s star performers and is red-hot favourite to be crowned player-of-the-year at tonight’s End-of-Season Dinner.
The 23-year-old has weighed in with 12 goals to make him joint top-scorer alongside Steven Gillespie.
But while delighted with the tally, he admits his overall performances have been even more satisfying.
“The goals are just a bonus,” he said.
“The most important thing is the fact I’ve produced a lot of solid performances and been very happy with my consistency.
“It’s been my best season so far.
“Maybe in the past I’d have had a couple of good games, then a couple of bad ones before coming good again.
“But that hasn’t been the case this season and that’s because I’ve grown and developed as a player.”
