Free agent Nathan Clarke has said he would be happy to discuss a return to Colchester United.
The 28-year-old defender is currently weighing up his options after ending his long stay at Huddersfield Town last month.
Clarke spent more than three months on loan at the U’s during the 2010-11 season, making 18 appearances.
Clarke said: “I’ve always got on well with John Ward and the staff down at Colchester.
“I had a good time when I was on loan there and I loved it there.
“It was perfect for me and I played a lot of games there.
“But it’s down to Colchester really.
“I spoke to John Ward when I was on loan at Bury after our game with Colchester but that was the last time.”
