HANNAH Stodel has begun her quest for a paralympic medal.
The Paralympic GB sailor from West Mersea , along with John Robertson and Stephen Thomas, lie in sixth place after the first day of racing in Weymouth on Saturday.
They finished in fourth and eight places in the first two races in the Sonar class to give them 12 points.
The fleet is being led by the Australian team who finished with a first and a third place, the Germans and French are second and third respectively.
On Friday, Stodel had the honour of lighting the Paralympic Cauldron at Weymouth.
She said: "I was so nervous. I was more nervous doing that than I will be racing."
