KANE Gilbert has announced he is leaving Halstead Town.

The prolific striker, who hit 37 goals for the Humbugs this season, is moving onto pastures new.

Writing on social media, Gilbert said: 'This was always gonna be tough. Everyone knows how much I love this club. @MarkMcLean1976 is building something special and I’m gutted I’m not going to be part of it but the time has come for me to move on.

'Thank you for the memories & friendships I’ve made @HalsteadTownFC'.

Gilbert's goals helped Halstead finish tenth in the Essex Senior League table, this season.

Writing on social media, the club said: 'Thanks for everything, Kane! 37 goals in a single season is some feat, you’ll always be welcome down at the Milbank Stadium.'
