Witham Town have named Nathan Fletcher as their new club captain.
The central defender has made a favourable impression since joining the Ryman League division one north club from Waltham Forest in February.
Fletcher has impressed manager Tony Last and assistant Paul Daley and showed his commitment to the cause when he rejected a move to Enfield Town prior to the transfer deadline.
His loyalty to the cause will now be rewarded in the shape of the skipper's armband.
Boss Last said: "It was something we had thought about towards the end of last season but the previous manager Ken O'Donnell had chosen Nathan Sharp as captain and we wanted to stick with that until the summer.
"Nathan has led by example for Witham since he joined us and I'm sure he'll be an excellent captain for us."
Fletcher has committed his future to the club.
And Witham look set to also retain the services of key duo Grant O'Donnell and goalkeeper Rhys Madden next season.
Meanwhile, Town have two pre-season friendlies lined up this summer, with more set to follow.
Town will travel to play Ridgeons League division one club Halstead Town on July 19 and play host to Needham Market on July 29.
Last has praised club groundsman Jim McKinnlay, who has ensured Witham boast one of the Ryman League's leading pitches.
The club's Spicer McColl Stadium, Spa Road venue played host to 182 games last season and the pitch is being re-laid for the new campaign.
"Jim's done a fantastic job for us," added Last.
