Braintree Town will make a decision on their new manager next month.

The Iron have been without a boss since Lee Patterson left Cressing Road last month.

Club captain Brad Quinton has been in temporary charge of the team over the last four games, losing just once.

Braintree chairman Lee Harding said he will wait until the busy festive programme is over before making a decision on the way forward for the Blue Square South club.

He told the Gazette: “We will stick with Brad over the Christmas and New Year period and make a decision in January.

“We will take stock next month.”

Harding backed Quinton’s wish to bring in a new player last week, with defender Jack Haverson brought in from Blue Square South rivals, Bromley.

The Iron chairman said that he is happy to back Quinton again, should he want to reinforce his squad further.

“We had players unavailable to us last weekend so we brought in Jack Haverson and a number of our reserve team players were involved on the bench,” he said.

“We’re looking for another centre-half and we have no problem working with Brad in terms of bringing in new players that will enhance our squad.

“As long as we believe what he wants to do is sensible I’ve not got an issue with it.”

Braintree have a double derby date with neighbours Bishop’s Stortford over Christmas.

They take on the Blues at Cressing Road on Boxing Day and then make the short trip to Woodside Park on New Year’s Day, for the corresponding fixture.

Harding added: “Brad will have the lads up for it against Stortford.

“We’re expecting a big crowd for the game and it’s a big game for us.”
