Robbie Garvey has sensationally quit as Braintree Town manager.
Garvey has left Cressing Road today, after just one full season as Iron boss.
Braintree narrowly missed out on the Blue Square South play-offs, last weekend.
However, they enjoyed a productive season and most Braintree fans were looking forward to another promotion challenge next season, with Garvey at the helm.
Garvey took over as Braintree manager at the end of last season, after leaving his role at Dagenham and Redbridge.
In his first full management job, he revamped The Iron squad in the summer, bringing in the likes of George Purcell, Matt Game and Jacob Mingle, all of whom have impressed.
The Iron have been in and around the top five in Blue Square South for most of the season.
However, they lost 2-1 against Newport County last Saturday and therefore missed out on promotion for another season.
Garvey met with the Braintree directors this week.
He was due to discuss his future and how to take the team forward next season.
Speaking earlier in the week, Garvey gave little indication of the fact that he was thinking of resigning from his post.
He said: "I would like to think that they think that I've done well.
"You will never please everyone as a manager and I understand that.
"I will sit down and talk to the club to make sure that they're happy with what I've done.
"They might want to make changes but I have a great group of players and I wouldn't have thought I'd be making too many changes during the summer."
Braintree are due to reveal more about Garvey's resignation in due course.
