Time may not be on the side of Braintree Town’s players as they mull over their contract offers from the club.

Manager Alan Devonshire told the Gazette last week that he feels no pressure to get players tied in for next season, but he has said that his patience will only stretch so far if they procrastinate too long.

He said: “I’m not having it like last year where we had people we were waiting on and waiting on and waiting on.

“They have deals on the table and I want some answers before the end of the season.

“I’m not saying I won’t sign them after that, but if someone comes available who I want, I’ve offered their money to him and he signs, then the money won’t be there anymore."

Braintree head to Wales tomorrow, looking to end their season on a high with a game at promotion-chasing Wrexham.

Striker Sean Marks will be suspended after his sending-off in the 1-0 defeat by York City last week, while full-back Aswad Thomas is a doubt with a hamstring problem.
