GARETH Southgate's Three Lions take on Ukraine on Saturday evening in the quarter finals of Euro 2020.

Optimism is building amongst England fans that the team have a serious chance of winning the tournament after their stunning win over Germany on Tuesday.

Sadly, England fans won't be allowed in the stadium in Rome due to Covid rules on Saturday night, but they'll be millions cheering the team on either from home or at the pub.

It is likely to be a very busy night in Colchester town centre, with the chance of some exuberant celebrations if England make the semi final.

During the 2018 World Cup there were crowds spilled out on to the streets, dancing the night away in Head Street, after England made the semis.

Gazette:

Flares were lit and people leapt from the top of lamp posts as hundreds of fans spilled out into the street to celebrate England's remarkable last 16 win.

Shouts of 'football is coming home' were constantly heard along Head Street after knockout stage victories.

Essex Police and the Military Police cast a watchful eye over the celebrations, which were generally good natured.

However, a bus shelter was destroyed in the street after the 2-0 quarter-final victory over Sweden, leading to a police action.
