Nick Arter, head teaching professional at the Colchester club, has provided a step-by-step guide to everything from correct grip and posture to technical tips for better chipping and putting.

He also took up the challenge of trying to turn 24-handicap hacker Simon Leek into a better player - watch his progress here.
