How many tops is in a kilo? Thirty? Three?

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t have a clue and had never considered it before coming across the intriguing idea of ‘Worth the Weight Vintage’.

Instead of buying each item individually, you pay per kilo. No many how items you have, come armed with £20 and you can walk away with a kilo of clothes.

This sounds like a fantastic deal, but with my limited knowledge of clothes and the weight of them, I decided to set out on an adventure to see what secret bargains I could find hiding on the racks and if a kilo of clothes was as good a deal as I had imagined.

On my journey to ‘Worth the Weight Vintage’, I walked past many happy customers clutching their large clear bags of new additions to their wardrobe

With only a £2 admission, Cambridge’s St Pauls church was bursting full of bright vintage clothes and keen bargain hunters sifting through the rails to find the very same goods I had my eye out for.

I soon realised that a kilo was not the enormous amount I had hoped.

When provided with a plethora of dresses and tops, trousers and jumpers, coats and jumpsuits, my £20 budget would have been eaten up very quickly.

A singular thicker item would have blown it all away!

I had to start fresh and stick strictly to the kilo to evaluate how advantageous this deal could be.

This meant sticking to smaller items.

Light tees and shirts that seemed to weight almost nothing was the way to go to get the highest return on investment.

As I adventured over to this section, I struggled to find clothing in my size.

Figuring that this was due to my general admission ticket rather than an early bird ticket, I asked eager shoppers, also looking for the best deals, what they thought.

Shopper, Kayden Konibire stated, “As it’s only £1 extra, an early bird ticket would have definitely been worth it.”

To which I agree, I can only blame myself for my initial lack of good finds.

My now limited selection left me feeling disappointed; I was certain that whatever clothes I would find, would exceed my £20 budget.

Defeated, I disregarded my investigation and grabbed what I could, very happy with my selections but disappointed to overspend.

I ended with 2 ribbed turtlenecks, a thick jumper and a small purse.

As I placed my bag on the scale, anxiously anticipating my shop to come to £30+, I was thrilled to see I had come under budget!

£16. 0.8kg. What a shock!

‘Worth The Weight Vintage’s Cambridge event left me thrilled! The price was absolutely ‘worth the weight’!
